Join us on June 27, 2019, at 11 a.m. for the countywide test of the Earthquake Early Warning (ShakeAlert®) System.

ShakeAlert® is an earthquake early warning system that detects significant earthquakes and alerts the public to take protective actions like “Drop, Cover, and Hold On”. ShakeAlert® is not earthquake prediction, rather a ShakeAlert® indicates that an earthquake has begun and shaking is imminent.

By participating in this test and completing the survey on at 11 a.m. on June 27, 2019, you can help scientists improve the ShakeAlert® system for all Californians. Here is how you can help:

  1. Visit just BEFORE 11 a.m. on June 27, 2019, and click on the link on the top of the survey to open the atomic clock.

  2. Get the WEA message on your phone. Note the exact time on the clock, down to the second (Ex: 11:00:04 a.m.)  that you receive the ShakeAlert® WEA test message.

  3. Complete the quick survey on and submit. It will take less than five minutes.

The first 60,000 people to complete the survey at 11:00 a.m. on June 27, 2019, will be given one coupon to enjoy a free order of chips and guacamole at any Rubio’s Coastal Grill location.
